Must Knows on mold!
Ten Things You Should Know About Mold:
- Potential health effects and symptoms associated with mold exposures include allergic reactions, asthma, and other respiratory complaints.
- There is no practical way to eliminate all mold and mold spores in the indoor environment; the way to control indoor mold growth is to control moisture.
- If mold is a problem in your home or school, you must clean up the mold and eliminate sources of moisture.
- Fix the source of the water problem or leak to prevent mold growth.
- Reduce indoor humidity (to 30-60%) to decrease mold growth by: venting bathrooms, dryers, and other moisture-generating sources to the outside; using air conditioners and de-humidifiers; increasing ventilation; and using exhaust fans whenever cooking, dishwashing, and cleaning.
- Clean and dry any damp or wet building materials and furnishings within 24-48 hours to prevent mold growth.
- Clean mold off hard surfaces with water and detergent, and dry completely. Absorbent materials such as ceiling tiles, that are moldy, may need to be replaced.
- Prevent condensation: Reduce the potential for condensation on cold surfaces (i.e., windows, piping, exterior walls, roof, or floors) by adding insulation.
- In areas where there is a perpetual moisture problem, do not install carpeting (i.e., by drinking fountains, by classroom sinks, or on concrete floors with leaks or frequent condensation).
- Molds can be found almost anywhere; they can grow on virtually any substance, providing moisture is present. There are molds that can grow on wood, paper, carpet, and foods.
Key points to keep in mind:
- The key to mold control is moisture control.
- If mold is a problem in your home, you should clean up the mold promptly and fix the water problem.
- It is important to dry water-damaged areas and items within 24-48 hours to prevent mold growth.
Mold can grow from any water source in as little as 48 hours, the water can come from anywhere, including humidity, a drip from a water supply line, from your widows or your roof. Once the mold begins to grow it can spread throughout your home or business quickly - infecting the air conditioning system; duct work; walls; floors; and the contents unless taken care of quickly. If your home or business has a mold problem, call SERVPRO of Flagler County, we are a State of Florida Licensed Mold Remediation Contractor who has the expertise to inspect and assess your property and use our specialized training, equipment, and expertise to remediate your mold infestation.

Dropping Tempuratures
2/2/2022 (Permalink)
In Florida we don't often have to worry about dropping temperatures affecting our area, but this time of year it does get rather cold and highs for us may not even reach into the 60's.
While you may be worried about your plants it is also a good idea to take a look around your home to see if you have any cracks or structural issues on home and get them prepared. Right now it may not be as big of a deal if you have a crack it will be letting warm air out and cold air out in the summer, it could also mean that moisture and humidity will find their way into your home. The longer these issues are left unresolved the more mold and deterioration could happen in your home.
These issues are best taken care of as soon as possible to minimize the risk and keep you and your family safe from the elements.
What is under your sink?
2/3/2021 (Permalink)
Have you checked under your bathroom sink lately? Most of us shove as much stuff as we can underneath our sink and rarely move them to check around and behind them.
When you have that much stuffed underneath your sink it is hard to know if you have a small leak or growth from excess moisture built up.
You should move everything out from underneath the sink at minimum once a month, clean it and check to make sure there is not a build up of moisture or a small leak.
Checking underneath your sink may seem like a small unnecessary thing to do, however they need to be done. If there is a small leak that goes unnoticed it could cause a large issue with mold down the road.
If you happen to find a leak and water or mold damage is apparent give us a call to remediate it or give a quote.

Can I do anything about mold?
Being in an industry where we clean up many various situations involving mold there are a few things to keep in mind if you are a renter. Unfortunately most renters need to get in touch with the owner of the unit if they find they have a leak or there is any inication of mold. The owner is the only person who can immediately give access to move forward. If the owner gives a landlord or tenant verbal consent remediation services may temporarily move forward.
What could mold mean for a tenant?
Mold can cause health issues. These issues can vary from flaring up allergies to harmful health issues. Mold is not something to ignore. If you think there is anything going on you should first contact the homeowner, and then contact an air quality assessor to test the air. The test they are able to perform can tell you have mold in the residence and even what kind and how much.
What can I do if my landlord refuses to do anything?
Each state is different on the legal limitations required by the owner of the unit. You may have a long list of things you are able to done or you may not have many rights in this regards. You need to do research and know what your rights are.
Next step
If you are able to get the owner on board process with testing and remediation process. This process can take any amount of time depending on the extent of what is affected and how long it will take to rebuild the areas affected.
Know what you can and cannot authorize and be sure to ask your landlord before you move in for what to do in emergencies such as this.
Common Places to Check for Growth in your Home
2/5/2019 (Permalink)
Living in Florida where the humidity is always high, it is always important to be constantly checking your home and cleaning to make sure growth is not present. If there is growth present in your home, the sooner you call your local SERVPRO remediator, the sooner the problem can be addressed, contained, and removed. The most common place to look for growth in your home is the bathroom. While it is probably everyone's least favorite place to clean, it is the place that harbors the most germs. The bathroom has the most moisture and the most bacteria that can cause mold when moisture is present. The next place to check for growth is the kitchen. This area of the home also harbors moisture, not as much as the bathroom, but still a god amount with the sink, dishwasher and refrigerator. Make sure to also check your fridge often for expired items to prevent the spread of any moldy items. We now move into the bedroom. If you have any exterior windows and window sills they can build up moisture and collect growth. Additionally in the bedroom we need to check the vents as they can also collect humidity, here in Florida the drastic temperature change from day to night and air to heat can contribute to the issue as well. Moving through the home to the living, the couch and curtains need to be checked as well. The couch, if covered can collect spores in the fabric. The same thing goes with the curtains throughout the home. If there are any plants kept inside, they will need to be checked. If the soil in the plant is too wet, they can start to grow some unsightly things. While uncommon in Florida homes, a fireplace and chimney let in the majority of moisture from the outside air and need to be regularly cleaned. If your home has a chimney and/or fireplace it will need to be cleaned regularly to prevent and build up and keep maintained. There are several more places that we can look in a home to find growth but these are the most common. Mold is not 100% preventable, but there are ways to maintain your home and catch it as soon as anything pops up.
What is White Mold?
7/10/2018 (Permalink)
White mold is not a specific type of mold. Many species of mold may appear white. The species of white mold commonly found in homes are aspergillus, cladosporium, and penicillum. All these molds may also appear gray, green, black or other tints. Moreover, all molds thrive in moist areas where a food source like wood is present.
Generally, it’s not necessary to determine the type of mold you have in your home – all molds have the same negative effects.
Some molds may appear white in their early stages of development. Later, these molds may change color after producing spores. Yet, many molds appear white regardless of age because their spores are not pigmented. The lack of spore pigmentation is caused by the type of material it’s growing on.
Also, white mold appears as powdery and may blend in with the materials it’s growing on, which makes it hard to tell that it’s actually mold.
White Mold vs Mildew and Efflorescence
Sometimes, people confuse white mold with mildew, which may also have a white appearance. However, mildew rarely grows on surfaces other than plants and doesn’t destroy materials. White mold, on the other hand, penetrates the surface of porous materials like wood or drywall and can ruin them.
It’s also common for people to confuse white mold with a substance called efflorescence. It’s a type of salt deposit caused by salty water which seeps through concrete, brick or stone. When the water evaporates, it leaves behind a white crystalline substance that looks similar to white mold.
Unlike white mold though, efflorescence won’t grow or spread.
To tell whether a substance is white mold or efflorescence, just look at the affected surface. If it’s masonry, it’s efflorescence. Also, put some of it into a drop of water and if it dissolves, it’s not mold. Lastly, squeeze some of the substance between your fingers and if it breaks into fine powder, it’s efflorescence.
Is White Mold Dangerous?
White mold is just one type of mold that can invade your home. Check out information about black mold, and how to remove mold from your home. For mold removal and water damage repair services, contact SERVPRO Of Flagler County.

Mold in Florida
6/18/2018 (Permalink)
Living in Florida there is moisture constantly everywhere. The humidity is always in the air, whereas in the more northern states there is less moisture year-round in the air. With the amount of moisture, it is incredibly important the run the air conditioner in the home or business to reduce the amount and lower the risk of mold possibilities in the residence or working space. When the air conditioner is turned off the moisture levels quickly rise in the home and can cause growth quickly due to this amount.
Once the moisture is in the home it can be felt as well as seen when you know what to look for. The moist common places growth can be found are the bathroom as well as the kitchen. The bathroom can accumulate moisture and eventually growth even faster if there is not a fan, or the fan is not used while the shower is running. Moisture tends to cling to anything metal such as the vents in the ceiling or close to the floor. The kitchen is another common place due to cooking, as well as the number of appliances in the kitchen that use water. These appliances include the refrigerator and the dishwasher. The supply lines for these machines are commonly the cause of moisture build-up and leak.
To keep the moisture abundance down here in the state of Florida we need to keep the air conditioning on. We also need to use the fans in the bathroom to pull the heavily saturated air out of the room. We also need to use the fan on the stove when cooking anything with high amounts of steam.

Power outages and Mold?
6/18/2018 (Permalink)
When a storm that is severe enough happens normally a power outage comes along with it. Power outages can cause a string on unfortunate events. Many families first thoughts automatically go to the refrigerator and all the perishable foods within it. These foods are important to think about because they can cause an odor and lots of money lost in perishable goods. These foods can also cause mold within the refrigerator. There maybe mold lurking in other areas in your home that need attention as well.
When the power goes out that means that the air conditioner goes out as well. As the temperatures rise in the home the humidity levels that can cause growth also to rise. The air conditioner in a home keeps the humidity levels low enough to discourage growth. When the power goes out and the longer it stays out, the longer the air conditioner is off it will cause the humidity levels to climb until they reach the same levels as the outdoor humidity.
It is easier in the home to keep the humidity down rather than lower it from a high level to a lower level. One way to keep the moisture from settling in one place in the home and keep the levels down would be to keep any ceiling fans, or fans in general on to allow the movement of air. Another way to help keep the levels down would be to close all blinds or shades to keep the heat level lower. If all the windows are open it allows the heat level to rise along with the humidity.
For all your remediation needs SERVPRO of Flagler Beach is here for you.

The 411 on "Good" Mold
11/21/2017 (Permalink)
The facts behind "good" mold.
Did you know mold and fungi naturally occur in our environment? In fact, over 100,000 kinds of fungi have been identified. However, not all fungi is bad! Some fungi produce very useful results. Yeast for instance, is a type of fungi used in preparing breads, baked goods and other food products, even including some alcoholic beverages! There are also other common delicacies that may sound familiar, such as blue cheese (that is a type of mold), and mushrooms that are classified in the fungi category. Can you think of another product of mold? Lifesaving Penicillin otherwise known as penicillin chrysogenum is an actual product of mold! Who would have thought a life saving antibiotic, was in fact mold? Although some forms of mold can add value to our lives, other forms can be harmful. Excessive amounts of mold, different types of mold, and/or exposure to molds can present health concerns for some people.

Identifying Mold in Flagler County
6/7/2017 (Permalink)
Mold in a Palm Coast home
Locating And Classifying Mold
By far the most important step toward combating mold damage for a homeowner is the successful identification of a colony. An observant homeowner may be able to locate and confirm mold growth earlier than uninformed peers, allowing remediation services to proceed in less time and with greater ease. The sooner SERVPRO of Flagler County is called in to clean up mold, the better. Follow these steps to gather critical information on your mold and locate its source before calling us for help.
Odor
The smell of mold damage in Flagler homes is often one of the most reliable and effective identifying factors in mold infestations of all sizes. Many types of mold emit a strong, foul or musty odor that grows more pungent as the colony grows. This is the best way to locate mold growth in out-of-sight places such as the space below floorboards, as the smell is strongest directly above the heaviest mold concentrations. If the smell is faint, this is a good sign: it likely means the mold has not had a chance to get out of hand. Note that this is not to say you should not call, as a weak mold case may quickly develop into a strong one without proper attention.
Water Damage
Noticed a leak? Found a patch of unusual wetness? Signs of water damage are also, in many cases, indicators of mold growth. Mold grows most commonly in places where it has ample water, and particularly when that water has had a chance to soak into materials such as wood and carpet. SERVPRO of Flagler County is certified to handle both mold and water at the same time, and all of our water damage restorations include preventative measures against mold growth.
Ways To Identify Dangerous Mold
Some types of mold are very dangerous and have a high chance to cause ill health effects in humans and animals nearby. This is colloquially known as black mold, which has a distinct dark green to black color. Also, this mold usually has a very pungent odor and can cause many side effects in humans. If you have found a patch of dark mold and have noticed any unusual health effects, vacate the area immediately and call us for further guidance.
SERVPRO of Flagler County is a locally owned and operated provider of mold remediation and prevention services with a full set of certifications. Call us 24/7 at 386-447-2202.
Tips to Prevent Mold in Flagler Beach
6/7/2017 (Permalink)
Mold in a Flagler Beach home
Mold is everywhere in our environment. SERVPRO of Flagler County is here to help with all of your water/mold restoration needs. The best way to prevent mold is to follow some of the steps below.
1. Identify problem areas in your home and correct them. Preventing mold from growing or spreading might be as simple as ripping up carpet in a damp area, installing mold-resistant products, or repairing damaged gutters.
2. Dry wet areas immediately. Mold can't grow without moisture, so tackle wet areas right away.
3. Prevent moisture with proper ventilation. Make sure an activity as simple as cooking dinner, taking a shower, or doing a load of laundry doesn't invite mold by providing proper ventilation in your bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, and any other high-moisture area.
4. Equip your home with mold-resistant products. Building a new home or renovating an old one? Use mold-resistant products like mold-resistant drywall or mold-resistant Sheetrock, and mold inhibitors for paints.
5. Monitor humidity indoors. The EPA recommends keeping indoor humidity between 30 and 60 percent. You can measure humidity with a moisture meter purchased from your local hardware store.
6. Direct water away from your home. If the ground around your home isn't sufficiently sloped away from the foundation, water may collect there and seep into your crawlspace or basement.
7. Clean or repair roof gutters. Have your roof gutters cleaned regularly and inspected for damage. Repair them as necessary, and keep an eye out for water stains after storms that may indicate a leak.
8. Improve air flow in your home. Without good air flow in your home, that excess moisture may appear on your walls, windows and floors. To increase circulation, open doors between rooms, move furniture away from walls, and open doors to closets that may be colder than the rooms they’re in. Let fresh air in to reduce moisture and keep mold at bay.
9. Keep mold off household plants. They're beautiful and help keep your indoor air clean — and mold loves them. The moist soil in indoor plants is a perfect breeding ground for mold, which may then spread to other areas of your house.
Call us right away at 386-447-2202 if you have any signs of mold, we have trained professionals to handle the infestation. We are available 24/7 to help make your damage, "Like it never even happened."
Tips to prevent mold in your bathroom

Mold in a Flagler Beach bathroom
Ahhhh a hot, steamy shower feels good to achy muscles, washing away your cares for a while. And while you’re relaxing and opening your pores in your skin the humidity level in your bathroom is rising, which can create an ideal environment for moldand mildew.
Preventing Mold with a Bathroom Exhaust Fan.
Many people think that the exhaust fan in the bath room is there to remove away unpleasant odors. While they can help with that, these fans actually serve a much larger purpose. Bathroom exhaust fans draw the moisture-laden air that fills the room after a steamy shower or hot bath out of the bath room, bringing the room’s humidity down to a healthier level. This is a vital step in preventing mold growth and averting mold damage.
Your bathroom is an ideal location for mold because it thrives in a humid environment. One way to ensure that if comes on each time you enter the bath is to have an electrician hard wire the fan to the light switch. But for more efficient way of controlling humidity invest in a humidity sensor.
Most people turn the fan on when they enter their bathroom to shower and turn it off when they leave. Unfortunately, this does not always give the exhaust fan enough time to evacuate the steam and humidity. Ideally, the fan needs to run until the moisture level in the bathroom is back to normal. You could just leave the fan running and come back later to turn it off, but you run the risk of forgetting it. This wastes energy and can shorten the lifespan of the exhaust fan. Instead, consider installing a humidity sensor. The sensor will automatically cut the fan off when the correct humidity level is restored. It is an easy way to prevent mold damage.
Dealing With Mold
If you find that you have a mold issue in your bathroom, do not attempt to handle it yourself. Disturbing the mold may facilitate its spread and contaminate other areas of your home or business that can be prevented. Spreading and cross contaminating your home or business could end up costing more money in the long run. Instead, turn to the professionals at SERVPRO of Flagler County. Our technicians have the training, specialized equipment, and protective gear to address mold damage. They can inspect the area, identify the source of moisture, contain the mold, remove it, properly cleanse your belongings and restore your home or business to a healthy environment. Removing Sources of Water and Food Help Keep Molds Out of Your Home
Mold is a common problem in Florida. Some people believe that it is the result of poor housekeeping. That's completely untrue. Mold develops when the moisture content is higher than standard, and there is a food source close enough to spur growth.
In every environment in our area, there is some mold. There are thousands of spores in the air, inside and outside every home and other buildings, and they are harmless. Mold damage in the Flagler Beach area happens only when the two factors occur together. SERVPRO has decades of experience in dealing with the spread of mold. Our restoration teams are experts in stopping growth, cleaning out existing fungi and then reducing moisture to prevent further outbreaks.
The most common result of mold spores expanding and growing is damage. It isn't enough to just let an inch or two evaporate. When excess water or moisture isn't removed quickly from your home, mold growth can begin in just 48 to 72 hours. Standing water is absorbed into carpets, floors, and walls very soon after exposure. Absorption and mold growth both are accelerated in areas where there is poor ventilation such as bathrooms and closets and where there is a lack of sunlight (for most species.)
At this point, some homeowners may attempt to turn on the air conditioner or the fan at least to clean the air and increase ventilation. This increase of circulation is a major error. Once mold begins to grow, it is important to keep it isolated. When you call out one of our response teams, one of the first steps they take is to block off the HVAC system by covering and sealing the vents. This prevents mold spores from spreading from one room to another through the vents and ductwork.
The first sign of possible mold damage is that distinct musty odor. If you smell it or see mold in a poorly ventilated area, call us today at (386) 447-2202. SERVPRO of Flagler County is here to help remediate mold infestations and to restore your home to its pre-loss condition.
The Lingering Effects of Mold Damage

Remediate Mold Quickly to Protect Your Condo in Hammock Beach
Mold Remediation Can Preserve Personal Belongings
At the first sign of mold, most homeowners become concerned about how it will affect the structure of their houses as well as their family's health. Mold is a serious matter, and being proactive about fixing the problem will save you time, money, and stress.
If your home has mold damage in Hammock Beach, it's wise to work with a professional instead of trying to clean up the problem on your own. Here are some of the lasting effects of mold damage and how SERVPRO helps combat each one.
Poor Air Quality and Odors
One of the telltale signs that a home has mold damage is the development of a musty, off odor. Some describe the smell as similar to mildew or like a wet, dirty carpet. The smell of mold is unpleasant and will negatively affect your home's indoor environment, plus it's tough to get rid of without industrial grade equipment. Not only do our technicians deodorize to make air fresher, but we also address normalizing humidity levels and extracting the moisture that causes mold in the first place.
Ruined Flooring and Furniture
If you have wood floors, carpet, area rugs, or furniture comprised of wood or fabric, fungi will eventually wear through your items if allowed to sit. We're able to eliminate moisture and make it so that mold can no longer thrive in your home or on your furniture and flooring. In many cases, our team can also sanitize and restore carpets and rugs with mold damage.
Destroyed Documents and Books
Mold spores are tiny and easily travel through the air. When they collect on books and documents, you may end up having to discard them for safety. SERVPRO has techniques and equipment that will not only prevent mold from spreading to your treasured documents, collectibles, and books, but we can also restore some of these items if they've already been affected by mold damage.
The team at SERVPRO of Flagler County is here to help ensure your home is protected from mold damage so you can have peace of mind. For a quote or to get more information about our mold damage remediation services, call us 24/7 at (386) 447-2202.

Mold Remediation Involves Dryers to Remove Water
Six Steps To Mold Remediation
In Palm Coast, mold damage cannot only appear with little to no warning, but it can also spread quickly through your home or business. This is why it is so important for residents to have a clear understanding of the mold remediation process. Although mold damage scenarios are different, the overall mold remediation process is the same. Here is a quick look at the steps.
STEP 1: THE INITIAL CONTACT
This begins when you notice what you believe to be mold growing in your home. First, you call us at (386) 447-2202. To determine what personnel, equipment, and resources are needed, our representatives will likely ask you a series of questions before scheduling a time for an inspection.
STEP 2: THE INSPECTION AND ASSESSMENT
Our technician arrives and immediately gets to work determining the scope of the Palm Coast mold damage. In addition to inspecting for visible signs of mold, he or she will use various technologies to identify where mold may be hiding, such as in sheetrock, under carpeting, and in cabinets.
STEP 3: CONTAINING THE MOLD
To prevent the mold from spreading further, our technicians will turn to a variety of instruments designed to contain the mold. They may include using negative air pressure or setting up a physical barrier. Also, they will likely turn off fans and cooling systems that facilitate the spread of mold.
STEP 4: AIR FILTRATION
Using our powerful HEPA vacuums and air scrubbers, along with other specialized filtration equipment, our technicians will work to capture any microscopic mold spores that enter the air during the remediation process.
STEP 5: GETTING RID OF THE MOLD
Depending on the amount and what surfaces the mold is found on, our technicians will use antimicrobial and antifungal treatments to eradicate existing mold colonies and inhibit the growth of new ones. This may require the removal of carpeting or drywall if it is especially infested with mold.
STEP 6: CLEANING UP AND RESTORATION
Our technicians will clean and disinfect any items affected by mold, including curtains, furniture, and more, using proven cleaning techniques. Let SERVPRO Remediate Your Mold Damage
Mold damage is an unwelcome culprit that requires immediate attention. Anytime there is flooding or water damage, there is potential for the growth of mold. We strongly recommend that you do not attempt to touch the mold or remove the mold. Contact us immediately because mold can grow beneath the surfaces of walls, floors, under carpet, and along many other unsuspecting surfaces.
Despite best efforts to clean up and dry up an area of flooding, mold can still be lurking beneath the surfaces. The problem with mold is that it can be hidden, hard to locate, and still create a musty smell or odor. The damaging effects of mold become evident in hours to days. Once mold is suspected, it is imperative that you call our team of experts to determine the severity of the mold damage problem in Palm Coast.
The severity of the mold problem will determine the nature of the removal or remediation plan. Mold clean-up, removal, and remediation should only be handled by an experienced team of experts. Underlying mold may be present that cannot be seen on the surface. Our experts will conduct a test to identify the type of mold that is present, determine the surface area and underlying surfaces affected by the mold, and develop a plan of action to get rid of the mold.
Once the mold remediation is complete, and all debris is removed, our team of specialists will conduct an air quality test to determine the safety of the air quality. We will work with your insurance company and provide a full assessment of the damage and the associated costs of removal or remediation.
When you suspect mold, call SERVPRO of Flagler County to perform a preliminary assessment. Our expert team of professionals can be reached 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days a year at (386) 447-2202.

Roofing Leaks Create Mold Issuses
Mold Can Be Result Of Many Types of Water Damage
Mold damage can occur without warning. Mold can become an environmental emergency, and it is critical to provide a safe workplace in the industrial setting. Mold in the workplace can cause health effects to employees with subtle or no signs.
Typical culprits of mold include slow leaks in pipes or roofing that may go undetected without a clear water mark. Pipes can leak for weeks or months without any visible signs of a problem. Many pipes are encased within walls making it impossible to identify a sign of a problem visually. Once the water damage compounds to the point that a clear sign is evident, Flagler mold damage may already exist.
Roofing leaks may occur gradually over time as a result of weathering or storm damage. Small leaks may create a passageway for water to intrude a building leading to the formation of mold. We are here and available around the clock to address your mold damage. If a water emergency occurs at your workplace, call us to provide an assessment, and we can be on the look out for mold evidence. Safely and efficiently identifying water leaks or floods may help minimize the amount of mold growth potential.
We will provide a mold assessment to determine the severity of the mold problem. Once we ascertain the source of the problem, we will assemble our team of experts to make the necessary repairs. We will only provide the highest quality of care and work strategically to minimize your business downtime. We recognize that time is valuable, and we do not want your company to lose business while undergoing treatment for mold damage. Our team of specially trained staff will work diligently to provide the best possible solution to fit your needs. Don’t ever go with a mold remediation company because they are cheap, since they will likely not be following the EPA Guidelines for the removal of mold and will also cut corners. Some won’t set up a containment area, which you must have to stop the mold spores from spreading further.
Professional Mold Removal

The right methods of mold removal are needed to keep mycotoxins and spores from spreading further.
Certifications of Mold Removal
There are a lot of mold certifications available so that companies claim to be certified. However, IICRC is one of the most reputable. A lot of mold companies which are reputable are certified through the IICRC since it has strict standards to follow correct mold remediation guidelines.

Always ask what is included in your estimate, such as anti-microbial, mold containment, safety equipment for the workers, the right certifications which can affect the cost of the project and the right insurance coverage.

Identifying Commercial Mold Damage in Flagler Beach

Mold On The Ceiling of an Office
Helpful Hints to Identify Mold and to Understand Moisture
If your business has sustained some sort of water damage, you could be looking at an outcropping of mold as well. Commercial mold damage in Flagler Beach needs to be taken care of right away, as mold can cause health effects for your employees and also your clients.
Identifying Mold
Mold is all over. A type of fungus which grows from tiny spots what float in the air, it can grow just about anywhere the spores land and find moisture and a temperature that is comfortable. The temperature is somewhere between forty and one hundred degrees Fahrenheit and usually includes just about any damp place inside your commercial building.
You can spot the most obvious kind of mold, mildew, quite easily. It starts out as tiny spots that are black but many times grow into bigger colonies. The black stuff will stain grout lines, grow on walls which are damp, and on outdoor surfaces like painted siding or deck boards, especially in areas which are shady and damp. A surface which is mildewed is many times hard to distinguish from one that is dirty. You can test for mildew by just dabbing a few drops of regular bleach on the area that is blackened. If it lightens up after a minute or two, mildew is present. If it stays dark, it is likely just dirt.
A surface mold, mildew will not likely do any damage to the structure of your building. Other kinds of mold, however, can cause rot. Use a screwdriver or other sharp tool to probe the area suspected to have mold. If the wood crumbles or is soft, the fungi may have taken hold and begun to rot the wood.
For a mold with a high concentration, you might be able to smell it. If you can smell a musty odor, look for mold on damp walls, damp carpeting, wet wood under your flooring, damp crawlspaces, wet roof sheeting and other areas that are damp. When you smell that musty odor, it is an excellent idea to have a professional mold remediation company clean these Flagler Beach mold damaged areas up right away before they get worse.
Understanding Moisture
You will have to do more than look at what is visibly growing on the walls or in a corner of your commercial building to assess mold growth. It can be an invisible intruder, growing around and behind what you can see at first. Understand first that behind all mold growth is a moisture or water problem. That is why you need a professional company to come in and find where all the moisture is and is coming from so that it can be eradicated correctly and stop any more growth from forming. You want to end all mold growth, not just what is visible right away.
You’ll want the professionals because they will have all the experience and equipment which is necessary to find all of the mold and to rectify the problem quickly and safely. They’ll also have all the protective gear that they need so that while the technicians are working on remediating your building, they are protected.

Flagler Mold Damage - What Is Mold?

A better understanding of what mold is and why it grows.
How Mold Grows?
When people see mold and mold damage and complains about it, it is most likely that they do not know what mold is. Oftentimes, mold is considered unsightly and a nuisance to people with allergies to it. Nevertheless, to have a full understanding of what mold is and why it only grows in certain areas, you need to take a deep look at it.
First, check on common areas where mold grows, the dark areas. Generally, fungi and mold are incredibly light sensitive. This is the main reason why mold is usually found in areas that are both moist and dark. These spots where mold grows are located in various areas of the house, which are typically moist and dark like the bathroom, basements, and attics. The presence of moisture in these areas is primarily the food source for mold. Although mold has a plant-like characteristic, it does not have chlorophyll pigments like plants. Also, it does not need sun exposure for food production. However, there is one similarity between mold and plants. Like any other plant-like organisms, mold needs oxygen.
Oxygen and Mold Spores
Oxygen is crucial to all living organisms’ existence. Just like any other living organisms, mold needs oxygen in order to exist. However, unlike animals that eat their food or plants that create food, mold, which is a member of the fungus family, absorbs its food. Mold absorbs food in cellulose level. To help breakdown its food sources for absorption, moisture is needed. What makes mold harmful is that like any other living creatures, it has the ability to give off waste.
Mold Waste & Gaseous Output
Mold gives off waste that is typically gaseous in nature. This is one of the main causes for health-related issues that it creates. Mold waste contains the toxin, mycotoxin, which can be ingested through the air or other means. Hence, when its waste and particles are breathed in by a person, it causes various health issues, especially for those who have allergic reactions to mold particles. Moreover, mold waste is one of the reasons why a mold remediation service is needed. Instead of risking yourself dealing with mold and mold damage, it is better to leave the job in the hands of a mold removal expert.
Natural Mold Presence
Once mold remediation has been performed, the mold damage will be cleared out for good. This will also help resolve health issues related to allergens for those who suffer from allergic reactions due to mold damage. Mold occurs naturally and has been around for countless numbers of years like other living things. It is important to take note that dealing with mold can be a nuisance as well as a cause for concern.

What is mold?
Mold is a form of fungi that grows in moist dark places. Most dry areas in and outside the home have levels of mold that are not harmful. How do I know if I have a mold problem?
If you have had any water damage or plumbing leaks in your home you may have mold problem. High humidity is a good environment for mold to thrive. Santa Fe woman shows how deadly toxic black mold can be
10/21/2013 (Permalink)
Let us help you with your Mold Removal and restoration in Hammock.
The monsoon storms that moved through New Mexico brought rain and flooding.
Something deadly could be growing inside your walls.
One Santa Fe woman said she almost died after she was sickened by toxic black mold. She was a very healthy, young mom to a disabled woman, battling for her life from the mold.
"It can kill you," Gina Lopez said. "It can definitely kill you."
Lopez lived with toxic black mold secretly growing in the ceiling above her bed for years.
Problems surfaced three years ago, when she could not remember parts of her day, and she had trouble talking.
"One day it hit me, to where I was stuttering so bad that I couldn't talk, couldn't walk," Lopez said. "They had to take me to the emergency room."
Lopez says doctors were stumped, until her daughter, Victoria, slept in her bed for a short amount of time. And the 14-year-old started having the same symptoms.
In the years since, a lab confirmed it was toxic black mold. Lopez has been diagnosed with chronic inflammatory response syndrome, causing her legs to swell.
Lopez also had cysts and tumors on her brain and in her spinal canal.
"It was so hard and I hate it so much," Victoria said.
"There was a point in time where I couldn't explain what was going on," said Lopez. "My kids had to sit there and watch me, and watch my health failing. And the doctor, he couldn't tell me what was wrong."
Mold illness is not taught in medical school. Doctors say there is still much research to be done.
Lopez was referred to a doctor in Roswell who is only one of four physicians in the U.S. certified to treat mold illness.
Slowly, she is improving.
"If I can turn this negative that we suffered, into a positive for my grandchildren someday and for people out there that have suffered down south, with the flooding, then it's a good thing," Lopez said.
Not all molds are toxic black mold. And not everyone will suffer the way Lopez did.
If you suspect this mold is growing in your home, have it tested.

Mold Growth from Water Loss
More reasons to call a professional as soon as you have a water loss.
FORT MORGAN — — When moisture creeps into porous surfaces, it can start a biological process that frequently ends with colorful blooms of mold.
That process can take several weeks before becoming obvious, though, according to Tony Cappello, public health director at the Northeast Colorado Health Department.
With the recent flooding and the dirtiness of that water, the risk of mold is present for affected buildings, including homes, sheds, vehicles and other things that may have been exposed to the water.
