How Mold Grows?
When people see mold and mold damage and complains about it, it is most likely that they do not know what mold is. Oftentimes, mold is considered unsightly and a nuisance to people with allergies to it. Nevertheless, to have a full understanding of what mold is and why it only grows in certain areas, you need to take a deep look at it.
First, check on common areas where mold grows, the dark areas. Generally, fungi and mold are incredibly light sensitive. This is the main reason why mold is usually found in areas that are both moist and dark. These spots where mold grows are located in various areas of the house, which are typically moist and dark like the bathroom, basements, and attics. The presence of moisture in these areas is primarily the food source for mold. Although mold has a plant-like characteristic, it does not have chlorophyll pigments like plants. Also, it does not need sun exposure for food production. However, there is one similarity between mold and plants. Like any other plant-like organisms, mold needs oxygen.
Oxygen and Mold Spores
Oxygen is crucial to all living organisms’ existence. Just like any other living organisms, mold needs oxygen in order to exist. However, unlike animals that eat their food or plants that create food, mold, which is a member of the fungus family, absorbs its food. Mold absorbs food in cellulose level. To help breakdown its food sources for absorption, moisture is needed. What makes mold harmful is that like any other living creatures, it has the ability to give off waste.
Mold Waste & Gaseous Output
Mold gives off waste that is typically gaseous in nature. This is one of the main causes for health-related issues that it creates. Mold waste contains the toxin, mycotoxin, which can be ingested through the air or other means. Hence, when its waste and particles are breathed in by a person, it causes various health issues, especially for those who have allergic reactions to mold particles. Moreover, mold waste is one of the reasons why a mold remediation service is needed. Instead of risking yourself dealing with mold and mold damage, it is better to leave the job in the hands of a mold removal expert.
Natural Mold Presence
Once mold remediation has been performed, the mold damage will be cleared out for good. This will also help resolve health issues related to allergens for those who suffer from allergic reactions due to mold damage. Mold occurs naturally and has been around for countless numbers of years like other living things. It is important to take note that dealing with mold can be a nuisance as well as a cause for concern.
